In a previous blog, I posted up steps to move towards a new ACE. One thing I didnt mention though was if we had to move over a license file. Well it just so happens I ran into this again and this time I DID have to move over a license file.

So how do we do this?

First run the command to find out if we have any licenses…

ACE-01/Admin# sh lic u

OK so we got a few. Now where is this file located?

ACE-01/Admin# dir disk0:

    908 May 08 2014 16:44:11 ACEFILENAME.lic
  1986363 Feb 14 2013 12:13:59 SHTECH
      1024 Apr 12 2007 16:26:05 cv/
         0 May 06 2014 12:19:06 kernel_log_messages1.txt
    101936 May 06 2014 12:19:01 sysmgr_info

           Usage for disk0: filesystem
                    3173376 bytes total used
                    7991296 bytes free
                   11164672 bytes total

Simple enough, its in disk0:

Next lets TFTP this guy off the ACE. Once you do, bring back the new ACE and simply TFTP it to the same directory

ACE-01/Admin# copy tftp: disk0:

Now the final command is to install the license file.

ACE-01/Admin# license install disk0:ACEFILENAME.lic

Thats it!
